The school community is now established in our new school building. The building provides us with excellent facilities including generous ICT and library facilities which support life long learning and a 'Space for Sports and Arts' for school and community use. We have a truly excellent learning environment for the children.

We value achievement and attainment. In recognition of this we have been awarded the DfES Basic Skills award. We have also been awarded the DfES active Mark for exceptional delivery of the National Sport Strategy and the CITB Gold Award for developing pupils' economic awareness.

The children have continued to experience a wide variety of activities both in and outside the school. We believe in 'adventurous learning'! For example, children have been promoting 'Road Safety' and using their ICT skills to film their journey to school identifying hazards and have made a DVD to show the community. The City Council have rewarded the children's efforts by making an award of £7000 to our school to implement ideas generated by the children to ensure road safety in and around our school.

The Young Leaders Programme has provided opportunity for pupils to develop their leadership skills this year and promote active play in our playgrounds.

As ever the children have worked hard to raise money for charity this year. We have made contributions to Children in Need and the children were delighted to receive a visit from 'Pudsey' Bear. Stockton Wood has maintained its sporting tradition and teams have enjoyed success.

Our school is recognised for its very strong pastoral ethos. We want to maintain and develop further the school's capacity to develop whole school approaches to teaching children social, emotional and behavioural skills - the SEAL project.

We are investing in new hardware to support the teaching of ICT thus we can now develop the school's fitness and capacity for ICT in order to gain the BECTA Award.

As part of our continued drive to raise standards we are reviewing and implementing the newly revised National Numeracy Framework to support the learning and teaching of mathematics. We shall also continue to further develop aspects of 'Assessment for Learning' such as peer assessment and feedback to support the raising of standards.

At Stockton Wood we are committed to lifelong learning. Our positive and inclusive ethos fosters the development of respectful and responsible individuals within a secure, caring and happy environment.

We are determined that all children should fulfil their potential and have opportunities to develop their sporting and creative talents. Hence by promoting creativity through the curriculum we can ensure the development of children's self esteem, motivation, achievement and skills for adult life.

We are proud to be members of the South Liverpool Learning Network. Working in partnership with we have shared a common goal, which is to raise standards of achievement and attainment. Together we have enhanced the educational provision for the children of Stockton Wood and we look forward to continuing this successful relationship in the future.
